History:
Chevron was originally known as Standard Oil of California, or Socal. In 1933, Saudi Arabia granted Socal a
concession to find oil, which finally occurred in 1938 when the largest oil field on earth was discovered. In 1984,
the merger between Chevron and Gulf Oil became the largest merger in world history at the time. Because of its
size, Gulf divested many of its worldwide operating subsidiaries and sold some Gulf stations and a refinery in the
eastern United States to satisfy US antitrust requirements. Wikipedia
On June 30, 2006 Chevron announced that gained exclusive rights to the Texaco brand for retail locations in the United
States on July 1, 2006. Following the company's 2001 merger with Texaco, Chevron was required to license the Texaco
retail brand to Shell in the United States for the marketing and sale of gasoline through June 30, 2006. Chevron and
Shell have shared rights to use the Texaco brand in the United States since July 1, 2004, when Shell's Texaco brand
license became nonexclusive. Texaco

talent, shared values and a strong commitment to developing vital energy resources worldwide." Chevron Corporation
Chevron Texaco and Venezuela:
Chevron's activities in Venezuela include exploration and production of oil and gas, and the commercialization and
marketing of Texaco products, with 83 gas stations. Through Chevron Oronite, the company also provides integral
technical support in the sale of lubricants and fuel additives. Chevron's Latin American Headquarters are based in
Caracas.
In 2007, Chevron Petroleum Company, an affiliate of Chevron Corporation, and Ecopetrol, S.A. signed with PDVSA Gas, S.A.
a sales contract to start delivering natural gas from Colombia to Venezuela by January 1, 2008, within the frame of the
agreement recently signed by the governments of Colombia and Venezuela to export/import natural gas.
But in August 1st, Chevron chairman David O'Reilly said that Chevron Texaco corporation has no plans for expanding
operations in Venezuela. Instead, the company is focusing on restructuring its operations in the Hamaca JV
(Joint Venture) it shares with Venezuela state oil company PDVSA. The company's global oil-equivalent production
was 2.63Mb/d, down 1% from 2Q06, due mainly to the effect of converting the company's operating service agreements in
Venezuela into JVs controlled by PDVSA. Rigzone
